Configure your academic profile, figures, assistant, appearance, data, and connectors.

Settings

Open Settings from the avatar menu, with Ctrl/⌘+,, or by choosing /settings in the composer. The tab list groups research preferences, app appearance, and workspace connections.

TabControls
Academic ProfileName, institution, discipline, reporting style (APA 7th, Nature/Vancouver, Chicago/Turabian, Harvard, IEEE), and inference framework / α. Custom α accepts 0 < α < 1 and shows its equivalent confidence interval. α is a session-level analysis instruction for the agent; this preference does not itself enforce a test runtime or alter statistical software.
Figures & VisualsFigure layout/frame (Auto, Display, Manuscript, Nature/Science, APA, IEEE), chart palette (Okabe–Ito, Grayscale, Nature, Viridis), and code-block syntax theme.
AI AssistantA plain-text system prompt applied to new analyses on this device. Leave it blank for default behavior. Standing instructions here are authoritative; use Research Conventions for practices you want learned and reviewed.
Research ConventionsReview, confirm, dismiss, forget, or add conventions; inspect their observation history; export or import them as Markdown. See Memory & conventions.
Analysis MemoryFindings remembered for dataset content, with a Learn action, per-dataset opt-out, and per-finding forget. See Memory & conventions.
Appearance & ThemeLight, dark, or system appearance; preset or custom accent colour; optional playful English status messages.
Typography & DisplaySerif, Sans, or Dyslexic reading typeface; text size; line spacing; 100%, 125%, or 150% UI scale; reduce motion; high contrast; and Smooth or Instant response reveal.
Data & SystemDefault analysis language; dictation language and up to 100 domain-bias terms; desktop-app update check; download session list as JSON; delete all listed sessions; and copy diagnostics.
ConnectorsConnect or manage external data sources. See Your data.

To change a preference, open its tab, choose or enter a value, then confirm the visible control reflects your selection. Appearance and display controls take effect in the interface; the analysis language, reporting style, α, and assistant prompt guide subsequent agent work. They do not re-run earlier answers. The system prompt is capped; custom α must be greater than 0 and less than 1. If a value is rejected or a control does not update, reopen Settings and check that tab's current value; for app errors, see Troubleshooting.

Language and accessibility

Analysis language controls the language of narrative responses and statistical reports. Available choices are English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Portuguese. Dictation language is a separate setting: English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Dutch. Add names, variable names, or technical terms to bias recognition; enter one per line or comma-separated, up to 100 terms.

The composer and some workspace fields follow the direction of entered text, including Arabic. The Dyslexic typeface applies to reading prose and reports while controls remain sans-serif. High Contrast strengthens text and borders, Reduce Motion disables interface transitions, and UI Scale enlarges the whole interface. Response Reveal changes how completed answers appear, not how the analysis runs.

Data and device settings

App preferences are stored in this browser's local storage. The assistant system prompt is plain text on this device and has a fixed maximum length. Downloading the session list exports its current list as JSON; Delete all asks for confirmation, clears the session list, and cannot be undone from Settings. Diagnostics copies diagnostic information for troubleshooting.
