Memory & conventions

Mizura remembers the decisions in this session. If you allow it, it also learns across sessions: how you like statistics done, and what is true about your datasets. Inspect it all. Edit it. Turn it off.

The decision log

The agent logs decisions as it works. A kind (method, data, assumption, scope, limitation) and one line of text with its reason. The log lives in the session and shows in the Plan tab under key decisions. Reloads do not drop it. Rewinding a conversation does not drop it either.

Numbers in the log get checked like numbers anywhere else. A note carrying unsourced numbers is refused. See Evidence & literature.

Learning across sessions

Two kinds of knowledge carry over.

  • Conventions. How you like statistics, reporting, visualization, code export, and profiles done.
  • Dataset findings. What is true about a particular dataset: a result, caveat, method, data-quality issue, or limitation. Findings are matched by dataset content, so uploading the same data again can retrieve its existing findings.

When enabled, a pass may run once per turn when there is something to learn from. A cue in your message. Words like always, never, from now on, by default, remember. English or Arabic. Or logged decisions. Nothing to learn from means no pass runs and nothing is spent.

The pass never sees dataset values. It sees the cue sentence, the decision log, and the dataset label. If the pass fails, the turn continues unaffected and you get a receipt saying learning was unavailable.

Suggested vs. active

Inferred conventions arrive as suggested. They steer nothing until you confirm them in Settings. Conventions you state explicitly become active at once. Always use Welch's t-test does not wait for confirmation.

Confidence grows when a convention holds and shrinks when you override it. A convention that keeps failing goes back to suggested. Dismissed or forgotten conventions are never re-proposed.

The two switches

SwitchWhereEffect
Learn from my sessionsSettings → Research ConventionsPauses learning from sessions. Existing knowledge is retained. Learn buttons are unavailable while paused.
Extract learnings with the modelSettings → Research Conventions and Analysis MemoryDisables the model pass, both automatically after turns and from Learn buttons. On by default.

Managing what is remembered

Prerequisite: open Settings while online to load the saved lists. To review a suggested convention, select Confirm to make it active or Dismiss to reject it; check that its status changes. To add a practice you state explicitly, choose a category, enter the convention, and submit it; it applies immediately. Forget removes a convention or finding from its list.

To pause new learning from sessions, switch Learn from my sessions off; it should show Paused and disables Learn actions. To disable model extraction entirely, switch Extract learnings with the model off; saved conventions and findings remain listed.

Settings → Research Conventions lists every convention by category, with confidence, observation count, override count, and source. Suggested ones wait for Confirm or Dismiss. Every one can be forgotten. Expand the evidence history to see each observation. Dismiss a suggestion or add a convention by hand; a hand-entered convention applies immediately and inference never overwrites it. It can also be exported or imported as Markdown.

Settings → Analysis Memory lists findings by dataset, including kind, confidence, source session, and date where available. Each dataset has a Learn button and a Don't remember this dataset switch; opting out prevents that dataset's findings from being used or learned. Forget an individual finding from its row. The Learn button asks Mizura to look for additional findings and shows a receipt. Confirm the receipt or list refresh to see whether anything was added. If learning is unavailable, check both switches above; if a pass fails, an error message appears and you can retry later. See learning troubleshooting if it remains unavailable.
